The (IASBGS) Individual And Small Business Grants is a new and exciting grant platform that aims to support individuals, students, communities and small businesses affected by natural disasters. Whether you own a business, you are a student or an individual who is struggling to make ends meet or a small business owner who is facing ongoing financial difficulties, we’re here to help.
- TAXES
Our grant winners are fully taxable and your winning income must be reported to your tax return income. It includes cash winnings and the fair market value of prizes, such as cars and trips.

FAQ On Payment
IASBGS staff will configure your account and email you directly with further instructions on how to access the system. Please be in touch with the relevant point of contact for the competition or write to us on our chatbot if you have questions.
- To meet the qualifying student grant test, you must be older than than 19 years old or be a “student” younger than 24 years old as of the end of the calendar year.
- There’s no age limit if you are “permanently and totally disabled” or meets the qualifying student test.
In addition to meeting the qualifying student test, you can claim the student grant only if these tests are met:

However, if you qualified for a business account, you can’t initiate a trace using the automated systems. You will be giving a trace form, complete the form to get the refund process started.
Your claim for a missing refund is processed one of two ways:
If the check wasn’t cashed, you’ll receive a replacement check once the original check is canceled.
If the grant check was cashed, the Bureau of the Fiscal Service (BFS) will provide you with a claim package that includes a copy of the cashed check. Follow the instructions for completing the claim package. BFS will review your claim and the signature on the canceled check before determining whether they can issue you a replacement check. The BFS review can take up to six weeks to complete.

The short answer is yes. If for example you are a New York State non-resident whose official duty station is United Nations Headquarters in New York and your resident state is not New York, if you qualify for a grant during the period, it is considered grant received in New York State.

- Taxpayers can now process their Tax Clearance Certificate accordingly.
Yes, your grant payment is taxable and should be included in your gross income. Taxpayers are advised to retain a copy of taxation office notice for their records. It provides information about the amount of the payment, how it was made and how to report any payment that was not received.
